Group Chief Technology Officer

Hugo joined Jumia as Head of Development in 2015 to help bootstrap our logistics tech platform. Since 2016 he has been serving as CTO for different teams in Jumia, including Logistics and JumiaPay. In 2021, he was appointed as the Group Chief Technology Officer. Before joining Jumia, Hugo worked with Carnegie Mellon University (USA) and the University of Porto as a research and teaching assistant in distributed systems and wireless networks. He also worked as Lead Engineer in Geolink, a university spin-off specialized in geospatial information systems and on-demand logistics. Hugo holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Porto and a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (USA).
